The brindle male sat carefully on his haunches, large ears flicking back and fore as her surveyed the pack members coming and going. Most that entered the center of the territory where the pack gathered were carrying prey for the other dogs, and they lay it in a pile near the leaders den. Shadow nodded and smiled to a dog he knew as they passed, and then he went back to watching the goings on. The males powerful shoulders flexed as he finally got up and began walking towards the entrance, he informed one of the other guards nearby that he was going to go hunting for a bit, and they agreed he could.
Silently, he slipped away and began trotting along one of the paths worn away by generations of passing paws. He lifted his snout and sniffed the air, it was filled with the scent of spring. And among the smells of new plants and flowers, he could smell prey just waiting to be caught. His tail lifted as he began loping, and finally he vanished into the thick shrubbery as he left the path. He moved quietly, the dappled sunlight dancing on his brown and black pelt. Shadow kept himself alert for noises, he heard something up ahead, and confirmed the scent of a fellow pack member. The male pushed his way through the ferns and long grass, to see who was there.

Crouched in the tall, dry grass, the female wolf waited anxiously for her prey to come closer. She was one of the few canines around who could sit still long enough and wait for her prey to come to her. Shikoba very rarely tracked her prey if she could figure where it was heading and save any energy. Now, don't get her wrong, she wouldn't do this for any prey. Antelope was only the ones she waited for. Waiting for a rabbit or something of the like is very much wasting your time. Especially for such a small meal.
No, the well adept and experienced deputiess candidate only waited for her large prey. Finally, her victum stepped into view. Her eyes narrowed at the sight of the baby fawn at the mother's side, still wet and tinged red from its birthing fluids. The female wolf licked her lips and carefully crept forward. Her vibrantly colored coat blended in rather well for this part of the Lerenzo territory. The alternating colors of bright gold, amber-orange, and ruddy brown broke up her silohuette, and the light patch of tan around her brilliant cerulean eyes always accented their color.
The approach of another canine broke her concentration and the tattered remains of her right ear flickered. The movement caused the grass around her to shiver and the mother antelope bleated before springing off. With a growl of fustrastion, the female leaped forward, her long, slim legs bringing her up to the still wobbly fawn. Like a cheetah, she flicked out a forepaw as she coasted at its heels, sending it tumbling and allowing Shikoba to push it down to the ground.
She grasped it's head in her jaws and gave a violent jerk that severed its spinal cord. No need for it to experience the pain of a slow death by strangulation in such a short time. Shikoba looked up, seeing the dark form of her packmate, Shadow. She smiled slightly at him, the right side of her muzzle twitching from the nerve damage that refused to allow her to fully smile. The sun glinted off the smooth skin of the right, scarred side of her face. The scar stretched from the base of her skull to her muzzle. Her eyesight wasn't the least bit affected though.
Feeling rather talkative today, for she was known for her mood swings and strange ways, the female wolf called out. "Evening, Shadow. You nearly spoiled my hunt. If I hadn't been going for the fawn, I would have lost it. You've gotten better at sneaking around I see." She teased lightly. Shikoba was one of the elder members of the pack, so it was no surprise she'd been around at the time of Shadow's training. In fact, she'd been around for just about everyone's training. At six years, she was still plenty young, but certainly no young adult. Shi was always one to bring up things of the past, often when they were young, to start up a conversation. It was always a light, easy way to begin a conversation.

The male pricked his ears as his dark mocha eyes landed on the easily noticiable pelt of Shikoba amongst the greens of the forest. He remained quiet as he watched her recover her prey, even after he'd startled the mother. The dog allowed her to dispatch the small bleating fawn, before he pressed on through the plants. ''Good catch'' the shepard said. Shadow noticed the smile that the she-wolf gave him, and Shadow returned it, pausing a few paces away from her as she spoke.
''Evening, Shadow. You nearly spoiled my hunt. If I hadn't been going for the fawn, I would have lost it. You've gotten better at sneaking around I see.'' He gave a soft laugh and titlted his head in her direction ''Much better at it.'' he said, his tail twitching back and forth for a few seconds. ''Sorry about that Shikoba, I didn'y know you were hunting.'' He said calmly, knowing the she-wolf wasn't exactly scolding him. He sighed and looked around him at the trees, sniffing the air again, wondering absentmindedly if there were any more of the deer around.

Large pads silently felt the soft greenery beg for mercy beneath his weight, his steps quickly moving along the same trail that had brought him away from his pack. The crisp scent of grass engulfed his muscular frame with each lift of his paws, a most welcoming aroma. The aroma of spring and new life. Dual receptors stood firmly in place upon his massive skull cautiously listening to any sounds that may tell of danger from a human or Venganza mongrel. A low grumble rolled in his throat, barely audible at the thought of the fleabags. His emerald gaze shifted to fall slightly over his shoulder to be sure that this new fae was on flank as was planned. Another lovely lady to add to the pack. It was quite well that he went off on a mind clearing venture today. He got his moments peace and swelled the pack. Indeed a successful afternoon.
Voices suddenly grasped his attention jolting his eyes and auds slightly to the right. Motion ceased, ebony claws piercing the earth's hide as his muscles tightened. A moist, black digit elevated slightly, nares expanding allowing the surrounding smells to be pulled inward and tested. The stern, serious facade faded with a small half grin and a reassuring nod toward the beauty beside him. " 'Tis members of the pack." Before his sentence was complete his travel shifted toward the conversation occurring only a few yards away. His broad maw split allowing the breeze's fingers to dance upon his tongue as he tasted the atmosphere, allowing the story of the recent happenings of the land to be told.
Several feet from the pair of wolves he paused, his crown dipping in greeting before returning to it's rightful place, "Good evening, Shadow, Shikoba." He greeted them, his head dipping to each as their names were offered in a deep, husky tone. His soft gaze dropped to the newly killed fawn before returning to the pair, "hunting has been going well?" It wasn't often that Daiki made conversation with the members of the pack, generally he was quiet though far from uncaring. Food seemed plentiful enough now, it was spring afterall.

Sincere stayed behind Daiki at a gentle trot. Her paws gingerly lifted up and down, tapping the dusty dirt. Her eyes were a gentle brown. She added a little skip in her step. She kept her cranium high. Her tail was high and twirled to the side. She slid to the side ever so gentle as she went through the brambles and into the territory of Lerenzo. She looked around, narrowing her gaze at the larger trees and then long grasses. She had never seen land like this. Well, she did when she had came here last year. She stared at the ground to avoid eyes, but couldn't help but look into the eyes of some of the dogs. She watched as Daiki sat down and began speaking with the two dogs. She didn't know who they were. She didn't hear his words, and wondered if she should follow after him. After ten whole seconds of thinking, she swiftly turned towards them.
She held her gaze on them and smiled in a friendly way. The no longer loner wrapped her tail around her body. "Hello, I am Sincere."

The sounds from close behind made Shadow turn his head, large ears twitched in syncrony as he lifted his muzzle into the warm spring air, testing it. The shepard could smell a canine of his pack approaching and he cocked his head to one side as the newcomer, or newcomers, made themselves visible. As Shadow had been secretly guessing, the pack dog was Daiki. But behind him soon appeared a more timid form. Shadow didn't recognise the scent that came from her, and the brindle male's skin prickled making some of the fur at his neck lift slightly. But seeing Daiki remained relaxed around her, he allowed his instincts to calm.
''Good to see you.'' the male said, and his dark eyes slipped to the female at Daiki's side again as she spoke up. Shadow turned to face the pair and dipped his head in her direction, a greeting ''I'm Shadow.'' he said with a welcoming smile. Though he still was pressing his mind to find out if he'd seen her before. But he didn't find an answer, and so gave up, deciding that perhaps she was 'new'. ''Well Shikoba was doing a good job it, but I nearly lost her the kill. Lucky she's a good hunter.'' Shadow said looking apologetically over his shoulder at the she-wolf.
